LUME · PRIVACY

Lume privacy policy

Updated October 16, 2026. Lume is developed and operated by Alan Dias, an independent developer. For questions or requests about your data, email adias7882@gmail.com.

Your account and cellar

We use the identifier provided by Apple and, when available, your first name and verified email to maintain your account. We store this account information in Convex. If you choose Hide My Email, we store the forwarding address provided by Apple. This email is not sent to OpenAI or PostHog and does not sign you up for updates or research invitations. When you save a wine, we store the photo, analysis, preferences and notes on your iPhone and in the cloud using Convex. The cloud copy lets you recover your cellar on another device. Offline uploads are retried when you open Lume with a connection.

Artificial intelligence

With your permission, we send the label photo to OpenAI to identify and explain the wine. For palate readings and comparisons, we send information about the wines and preferences used in that reading. You can prevent new uploads in Profile. This does not delete data already sent. We do not send your name, email or Apple identifier to OpenAI for these analyses. Results may contain errors.

Free limits

We record the type, time and outcome of analysis requests with your account to apply free limits and protect the service against excessive use.

Future plan

If you ask to receive news about the future paid plan, we store your email and permission to notify you about the launch. You can leave the list in Profile. Joining does not create a subscription or charge you.

Optional usage analytics

With your permission, we use PostHog to understand usage events and app errors. We do not collect these events until you confirm during onboarding or in Profile. You can turn collection off in Profile. We do not send your photos, personal notes or interest-list email with these events. During onboarding, you can allow usage analytics and recordings of your activity within the app through one optional choice. Displaying this choice does not enable collection. Previous permission for usage analytics alone does not authorize recordings. Recordings only start when the feature is available and you authorize them during onboarding or in Profile. In Profile, you can turn off recordings or all usage sharing. We configure text, images and the camera to be hidden in recordings, without collecting network or console logs through this feature. Turning off recordings or usage analytics stops new recordings but does not automatically delete previous records. You can request their deletion using the contact in this policy.

Permissions and sharing

We request camera or photo access when you use these features. Choosing a photo does not upload your entire library. When sharing a wine, you choose the receiving app and that content follows its rules. The external feedback form uses Tally and its own terms. If you start a WhatsApp chat, that service and its own terms also apply.

Storage and services

We keep account data while you use Lume, until you delete it. Apple, Convex, OpenAI and, when enabled, PostHog process information needed for their functions and may operate outside your country. Technical logs and backups from these services may have their own retention periods; deletion in Lume does not guarantee immediate removal of all such records. We do not sell your data or use your cellar for targeted advertising.

Delete your data

In Profile, choose Delete my account and confirm your identity with Apple. We delete your account, cellar, photos stored by Lume, notes, preferences, palate reading and future-plan signup from the active database, revoke Apple access and clear the copy on this iPhone. A minimal identifier and deletion-time record is kept for up to 24 hours to prevent in-flight uploads from restoring data. Original photos in your device library and content already shared are not deleted. Other devices may keep local copies; remove them on those devices.

Contact and changes

You can request access, corrections or clarification about your data by emailing adias7882@gmail.com. If we change this policy, we will update its date and explain material changes in the app.

This website

This public website uses Vercel Analytics to measure visits. This is separate from optional PostHog analytics in the app. Website waitlist forms open WhatsApp; the message is only sent when you confirm in WhatsApp and follows that service’s terms.
